Many Below Poverty Line (BPL) farmers in Mokhada face challenges due to limited crop choices, seasonal changes, and climate change. This leads to low incomes and the need to migrate for work, making caring for their families’ land, health, and education difficult.
The Greenshoots Project provides organic farming training, personalized consultations, exposure visits, opportunities to sell to our Bal Balwaan Mission, connections to government schemes via ALK and marketing support via our sister NGO. We empower farmers to diversify their crops and increase their incomes, building community sustainability and resilience.

Meet Mukunda
Mukunda and his family live in Poshera village in extreme poverty. After putting immense effort into cultivating 2.5 gunthas (0.06 acres) of Black Gram lentil crop, green caterpillars attacked on a large scale, preventing them from eating or selling it.
Grameen First conducted a training in Mukanda’s village on organic insecticide (lamitam pwara). “I made this organic insecticide at home and when I sprayed it on the infected area I noticed a difference in 2-3 days. It cost me only Rs.60-70 whereas if I had used chemical insecticides it would have cost me Rs.200-250.’
