Ritu lost her mother a few days after her own birth. With her family struggling with grief and less than 150 rupees each day, we knew she was at risk of malnutrition. As part of our Bal Balwaan Mission, we ensured her family had enough groceries, vegetables, and breast milk supplements.
She also attended a health camp, where the doctor decided to admit her to the Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre at the Rural Hospital for observation for 5 days. We’re pleased to see Ritu back at home now, continuing to stay healthy and maintain her weight.
In the rural villages of Mokhada access to medical care is challenging. MASK is a healthcare centre addressing last-mile gaps by offering a comprehensive range of medical services in continuous partnership with the Government Primary Health Centers and Rural Hospital.

When we saw frequent reports of diarrhoea and cases of cholera at our Shravan Health Centre, we realized purified drinking water was necessary to keep families healthy. Open sewers and contaminated groundwater were putting families in the community at risk. With limited financial resources, purchasing bottled water was not an option.
Four local residents are now employed to operate our RO filtering unit. We purify borewell (ground) water before delivering it to people’s homes. 20 litres of RO water for just 20 rupees – that’s twenty times cheaper than packaged drinking water.
Children and women in Kalwa often cannot afford to travel outside their community or pay expensive treatment fees. We were distraught when a young boy called Shravan from our Love2Learn Kalwa classes lost his life from a curable illness in just a weekend. The Shravan Health Centre now means people who can’t afford to travel, can easily and affordably consult with a qualified doctor. We offer:
The primary focus is on diagnosing and creating awareness about the effects of sickle cell anaemia. As this program will reach the entire Mokhada population, SCIMP actually involves four interconnected health-related projects. These are:
Our goal is to combat malnutrition among 100 children in Mokhada with the possibility to scale this project to the whole sub-district. We currently focus on those categorized as SAM (Severe Acute Malnutrition) and MAM (Moderate Acute Malnutrition) and enrolled in Anganwadis in Morhanda Beat 2.
We provide:Parivartan is a behavioural change program that educates Mokhada’s children and mothers on challenges that impact their health and the health of their families through interactive workshops. These include:
During these sessions held in villages, Anganwadis, Government Residential schools and Primary Healthcare Centres, we also distribute soap made under our sister NGO’s Sundar India Project.
