While we always prefer to direct individuals to available government schemes and be proactive, when the unpredictable or the extreme comes, we are here for the Mokhada community in times of urgent need.
In the past, we have delivered training on and responded to emergency crises like floods, snake bites, cyclones, pandemic and severe storms. We have provided the most severely affected people and villages with basic food, advances for home repairs, support with logistics, replacement school notebooks, replacement cooking equipment, medical care, and hygiene kits.

Monsoon Preparedness
As our focus is Mokhada taluka, we know which villages tend to get cut off during the monsoons. Before floods hit each year, we conduct need assessments and act accordingly, identifying the most vulnerable villages. We encourage collaboration for preparedness across the taluka.
During the 2023 monsoons, we supported Kurlod village and kept the Government updated on our work. The Government has since built a bridge connecting Kurlod to Mokhada town. Village by village, we are building resilience to monsoons and reducing the need for emergency responses.

Meet Rajesh
Rajesh, a tribal youth from the remote village Kurlod, was on his way back home when he felt a stinging pain on his foot. He looked around and was shocked to see a large venomous saw-scaled viper lurking in the bushes. He quickly went home and, with limited funds and no public transport coming to the area, asked his family to call Grameen First. In a car designated for Kurlod emergencies, we immediately took him to the Nandgaon PHC and then to the hospital that had the anti-venom. He was admitted to the hospital for 3 days and recovered well.
