Primary schools in Kalwa are overcrowded meaning that children don’t get the attention and learning time they need. Economic constraints also make it difficult for families to provide proper nutrition and healthcare for their kids, affecting their ability to concentrate in school.
Love2Learn Kalwa provides small supplementary classes for around 25 of these underserved children, helping them overcome these challenges. Every day we improve the children’s knowledge and academic performance in subjects like Maths, Science, Marathi, and Computer skills through innovative lessons. We also provide daily meals and monthly check-ups with a doctor.
Rani* loved all her school subjects except science. When asked why, she explained that science frightened her. She had limited knowledge and resources to be able to understand the lessons, making the subject seem difficult and overwhelming to grasp.
Since joining our L2L Sci-Ma lessons in Mokhada, we have seen her transform: she now attempts the science experiments herself and puts effort into exploring each topic. She sees a future in the field of science and told us that she now has a great desire to become an engineer.
Mokhada’s Government Ashram Shalas (Tribal Residential Schools) are currently facing limited staff and teaching resources, leading to a focus on theoretical lessons. Yet, true love for Science and Maths is born out of curiosity and experimentation.
In Love2Learn Sci-Ma, trained graduate teachers visit Ashram Shalas daily to deliver quality, practical and hands-on science and math lessons for tribal students in grades 7 to 10. We gamify learning and guide students to conduct experiments independently. The project aims to instill a love for science and math, encouraging them to pursue careers in STEM.
Results:
students engaged in innovative science learning
